Introduction to the course:

The department provides scope employ ability skills and the capacity to communicate effectively. The department of history at Adamas offers courses to provide a holistic understanding of the subject.  The courses on Indian and World history are designed to train students for competitive examinations as well.  It also offers courses to inculcate research productivity among the students. Following the New Education Policy, History has implemented Liberal Education, which is a cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary way to study the subject. This programme includes 14 foundation courses for the first year and specialization for the next semesters. The papers are not only keeping up with traditional core subjects but also skill-based and industry friendly to increase the employability of students.

 

Programme Objectives:

PEO 01: Students will acquire extensive knowledge on all the traditionally divided time-periods of human civilization viz, Ancient, Medieval and Modern.

PEO 02: Graduates will work with professional integrity and concern for society and the wider world.

PEO 03: Interdisciplinary curriculum will break the disciplinary boundaries and provide avenues of engagement with other social sciences and pure science subjects

PEO 04: Internship opportunities will lead to greater exposure to the subject.

PEO 05: Skill development courses will enhance their creativity as well as employability.

 

Programme Outcomes:

PO 01: Development of analytical thinking: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of Historical theories and principles and able to integrate the knowledge in more constructive ways

 PO 02: Application of historical Principles: Apply the knowledge of historical principles in different areas of historical research as well as in more applied areas of humanities

PO 03: Fundamentals of Historical Research: Conceptualize, conduct, organize,

integrate and execute independent forms of research by applying the principles of research methodology

PO 04: Application of theoretical approaches

PO 05: Soft skills and effective communication: Demonstrate soft skills and effective communication skills while dealing with clients and professional bodies.

PO 06: Develop communication skills: Develop skills of communication within the social science domain as well as the society at large and chart ways out for wider interaction

PO 07: Ethical behaviour: Commitment to ethical principles and professional ethics as well as being responsible for the community at large.

PO 08: Collective Effort: Inculcate the values of teamwork and the ability to work in multidisciplinary settings

PO 9: Respect for multilingual culture: In-depth study and research into the multicultural fabric of the society and work for their preservation against extinction

PO 11: Industry friendly skill development: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding the basic literary theories and applying them in literary communications and create newer texts.

PO 12: Life-long learning: Recognize the need for and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of literary change.

 

Eligibility:
Minimum 50% aggregate in 10 +2 or equivalent from any recognized board.
