Introduction to the course:
Following the NEP, Bengali Department has implemented Liberal Education which is a cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary way to look at the subject. This programme includes 14 foundation courses for the first year and specialization for the next semesters. The papers are not only keeping up with traditional core subjects but also skill-based and industry friendly to increase the employability of students. There is also scope to go for higher studies and research. The base is prepared right from the beginning. The papers offered are also matching the syllabus of competitive examinations such as NET, SET, UPSC, PSC, WBCS etc.

 

Programme Objectives:

PEO 01: Graduates will have basic knowledge for all the disciplines in Bengali Language & Literature.

PEO 02: Graduates will be specialized I a subject specific areas and have profound knowledge.

PEO 03: Interdisciplinary approach will be reflected in their thought process and engage them in life-long learning process.

PEO 04: Internship and projects will make them industry ready.

PEO 05: Skill development courses will enhance their creativity as well as employability.

 

Programme Outcomes:

PO 01: Knowledge of literature: Apply the knowledge of basic language in creating and comparing different literary texts.

PO 02: Critical analysis: Identify, formulate and critically analyse the different literatures by literature review.

PO 03: Conceptualizing intertextuality: Analysing the different literary theories and applying them in newer textual forms by comparing different genres of literature.

PO 04: Leadership skill: Use the acquired resources and applying them in developing skill-based knowledge

PO 05: Communication: Communicate effectively on complex literary theories and understanding the basic literary principles with the society at large and being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations and give and receive clear instructions.

PO 06: Application of theories: Apply the reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal and cultural issues and focus them in the newer text.

PO 07: Literature, language and society: Create, select and apply the appropriate techniques in communicating the synthesis of the acquired knowledge in development of the society.

PO 08: Ethical value: Apply ethical principles and commit professional ethics and responsibilities while practicing effective literary skills.

PO 09: Individual and team effort: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams and in multidisciplinary settings.

PO 10: Building research aptitude: Identify, formulate and analyse research literature and create new interpretations of the literary text s applying the basic literary theories.

PO 11: Industry friendly skill development: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding the basic literary theories and applying them in literary communications and create newer texts.

PO 12: Life-long learning: Recognize the need for and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of literary change.

 

Eligibility:

Minimum 50% aggregate in 10 +2 or equivalent from any recognized board.
