Why we do what we do? Why we feel the way we feel? Why we think as we think? The study of Psychology has the answer to all these questions. Psychology is the scientific study of our thoughts, feelings and behaviors. If you love working with others and enjoy helping people, this course might be an excellent option for you. The knowledge gained after completion of this course may be applied the treatment of mental health issues, in industrial settings and improvement of interpersonal relationships.

What are the learning outcomes?
• Students can learn to become more self aware and self confident, they will learn how to interact with others and develop skill of competency
• Students can identify the different approaches to study human behavior and how this knowledge can be used to explain, predict, and influence behavior.
• Students will develop a critical and scientific attitude and will learn to empirically analyze and utilize the data in lifestyle settings.
• They will develop the skill of communication, for personal resource management and to take the responsibility for the desired quality of life and healthy adjustment with reality.

Introduction to the course
This course introduces a more in depth look into the science of human behavior. The focus of this course is to develop and guide the student to pursue his/her career in psychology on the basis of their specialization. The biological, psychodynamic, cognitive, behavioural and social approaches towards psychology are studied. This course is for those students who wish to acquire an understanding of psychology as a science, and the contributions of psychologists both western and Indian in the understanding of human behaviour.

Introduction to the course
The Ph.D. program is a minimum 3 year, full-time only program. All areas are research-oriented. Here the emphasis lies in research, not in training counselors or private practitioners. A Masters degree from an accredited university is required to apply to our program.
The program begins with a course work for 6 months. These courses have dual roles: they provide the groundwork for research and serve as a basis for subsequent specialized study.

What are the learning outcomes?
• Students will develop a critical and scientific attitude and will learn to empirically analyze and utilize the data in lifestyle settings.
• They will be trained in the process of doing Research and will be supervised to write their own Thesis.

After completion of research work, the submission of thesis is mandatory. Kindly refer to UGC guideline.

• The students can opt for teaching career in college and universities after qualifying NET/SET.
• They may work as Guest Lecturer in colleges or Project fellow.
• The students who are interested for further research can join D.Lit. Programme directly, or can pursue their research elsewhere in India or abroad.
• Those who are eager to avail academics as career may appear for interviews for the post of Assistant Professors in Colleges and Universities.
