Myself Dr. Nisha Thakur, has been appointed for the post of Teaching Assistant in the Department of History in the School of Social Sciences, Adamas University. I have completed my M.Phil. and Ph.D. from Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University under Prof. Vijaya Ramaswamy. The title of my PhD dissertation is ‘Materialism and Sacrality of the Mithila Region (c.700 CE- c.1700 CE)’. My Ph.D. thesis dealt with the social, economic and cultural history of Mithila religion (North Bihar) and the simultaneous rise of the Maithili Brahmin community as the biggest land owning community in Bihar. My M.Phil. topic was entitled ‘Patron and the Renouncers: Images of Women in Buddhism’ dealt with the condition of women and their images present in the ancient Indian text special in the Buddhist literature. Broadly my area of research interest is socio-economic and religious histories of ancient and medieval India. I have also published some articles in important journals
