Dr Ambalika Guha is a syntactician. Her primary interest lies in studying the uniformity between nominal and clausal left periphery. Particularly, she investigate the discourse notion which plays a direct role in syntactic derivation. Recently, she has also been intrigued by the semantics of polar questions and alternative questions, showing how a language speaker uses a question particle as a disjunction marker.
Mostly, she has focused on Indo-Aryan languages. In future, she would like to consider the whole range of South-Asian languages.
Prior to joining Adamas University, she was a teaching fellow at VIT (Bhopal), and was a guest lecturer at the Department of Linguistics at Jadavpur University. she has also received Ph.D in Linguistics from EFLU, Hyderabad.
