Department of Bengali, School of Social Science organized a lecture on 15th November 2019 at 3 pm in Room no. 315, AU-3. The guest speaker was renowned poet and Author Mrs. Samragnee Bandyopadhyay. She is highly praised among the Bengali intellectuals for her book ‘Brishti Rashir Meye’ and also for her editorial role in the legendary ‘Krittibas’ magazine. Recently she worked as a script writer for the film ‘Mukherjee’dar Bou’ .Scholar of Women and Gender Studies (Jadavpur), former faculty of American Centre for Indian Studies – Samragnee is very passionate about Bengali. Her talk was on ‘Bangla Bhasha – Bhalobasa o Linga Rajniti : Sakhya, Naikatya o Duratwo’. In her lecture, she unfolded how she fell in love with Bengali and developed a relationship through various academic and creative involvements. She also described how she found out the subtle gender politics in the language and how to deal with it. In her talk, she expressed how the passion and difficulties interplay in the world of language. The session was interactive. All the faculties and students from School of Social Science participated in the programme.
