Dr. Anjali Ray was a Professor and former Head of the Department of Applied Psychology, University of Calcutta. She pursued her B.Sc. (First Class First Rank), M.Sc. (First Class First Rank) and was awarded the Ph.D. degree from the University of Calcutta and was the recipient of Jubilee Post Graduate Merit Award, Gold Medal Award, Bhanu Das Gupta Medal Award, National Scholarship Award and so on for her academic excellence. Her 33 years of teaching experience at the level of P.G. / M. Phil as well as 7 years of teaching experience at Professional courses focused on the field of Counseling, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Development, Stress Management, Clinical and Forensic Psychology, Population Science, Educational Psychology, Psychometry, Research Methodology, Community Health etc. She has supervised 14 Ph.D. research work of multidisciplinary nature covering the field of Applied Psychology, Sociology, Education, Management, Community Medicine, etc. and directly associated with evalution and monitoring of Programmes of National Literacy Mission, National Health Mission and NACO.
She has organized various research projects funded by UGC (SAP III, DRS Phase I) on Mental Health of Students, UGC-UPE Scheme on Elderly People, UGC-UNFPA on Population Education, Technical Education Quality Improvement Program, MHRD, on Career Development and Empowerment, Global Fund Projects on AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria – Counseling and Supportive Supervision, National Health Mission and State Family Welfare Bureau on Adolescents Health, and State Adult Education on literacy, Evaluation and Non-formal Education etc. She has written 11 books, edited 3 books, contributed chapters in number of books and published 60 papers in national and international journals. She was in editorial advisory board of two international journals.
She was directly associated with the academic administration for 15 years as Assistant Director, Population Education Resource Center, Burdwan University (1990-1999), Principal Training and Director Action Research Wing, CUSCON (1984-1990). Besides, she acted as expert for selection process of UPSC, Public Service Commission, West Bengal College Service Commission, different Universities, etc. She was actively associated with the consultancy and counseling services for different organizations (Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, etc.), different industries, students of higher education, and community people.
